Obituary

Beloved father, grandfather, brother-in-law, father-in-law and friend, Dick Beaumont died peacefully of natural causes on Friday, November 9.

Born and raised in Montréal, Dick graduated from Sir George Williams University and began a long and successful career with DuPont. He met Jean McNeill in 1955 and they married in 1956, his career taking them to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia for several years before they eventually settled their young family in Beaconsfield, Québec. Over the following decades, Dick held many positions of increasing responsibility at DuPont, eventually retiring as Compensation Manager.

Dick and Jean moved to Oakville in 1979 and in retirement Dick remained active in the community. He was a longstanding and dedicated member of St. Cuthbert's Church, serving in several volunteer roles and receiving the recognition of the Order of Niagara in 2007. He also volunteered with the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts and he and Jean were active members of the Oakville Club for decades, playing tennis and badminton and enjoying numerous social events with the many dear friends they made there.

Dick loved music, painting, baseball, long dinners with friends and family, and a good 'shaggy dog' story. He was predeceased by Jean, and is remembered with love by his children Cathy, Rick and Stephen, their spouses Shawn, Angela and Maggie, and in-laws Sheila and Robin. Grandsons Andrew and William will miss their Granby very much. Many thanks to the caring staff of Churchill Place and the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Service on Saturday November 17, 11:00 AM at St. Cuthbert's Church, 1541 Oakhill Drive, Oakville. Reception to follow at The Oakville Club, 56 Water Street, Oakville. Donations in lieu to the Oakville Hospital Foundation.
