Obituary

Ray passed away peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Ray was born in Arima, Trinidad. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Gladys Chan, his devoted wife Joy Avril Chan née Yong. Remarried to his adoring wife Mary Jones.

Loving father of Wayne (Sherri), Tracey (Keith) and Sonia (Peter). Caring grandfather of Maria (Zachary), Jessica and Melanie.

Brother of Nancy (Melvin), Ralph (Moy) and brother-in-law of Jacqueline. Predeceased by sister Gwen (Archie), Glenda (William) and his twin brother Ronald.

Ray was an Oakville resident for 47 years. He was a banker, a golfer and a jack of all trades. He was the kindest and most thoughtful person, willing to lend a hand where needed. He loved food, especially dim sum, callaloo and roti. He cherished all gatherings with family and friends. He enjoyed steelpan music and watching all sports while supporting the local teams.

The family would like to thank the care providers in home and at the hospital especially the palliative care team who made Ray comfortable in his final days. A special thank you to all family and friends near and far for their love, support, and prayers during Ray's journey. He is at peace now and has reunited with passed loved ones in the presence of our Lord.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 6 - 9 pm.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on  Thursday, March 2nd. at Evangel Pentecostal Church, 1450 Rebecca Street, Oakville.

If desired, remembrances to the Kidney Foundation of Canada in Ray's honour would be appreciated.
