Obituary

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Quinn Alexander Albrecht on October 12th, 2023 (born October 1, 2019) with all his family by his side. Quinn was taken suddenly and tragically from us after acquiring an infection that travelled to his brain. Quinn is survived by his Mommy and Daddy (Erica and James Albrecht), his sister Maeve, Pops and Oma (Dalton and Ruth Albrecht) and his Grandma (Louise Swan and deceased Grandpa - George Swan), his Aunts and Uncles, Kathryn Swan (Will Stewart), Jennifer Swan (Jorge Saenz), and Anthony Albrecht (Melanie) and his cousins Lucas, Anna, Olivia, Henry, and Leonard and all of his friends at Western Heights Maple Grove Campus, New Central Public School and in the community.

Quinn was a ray of sunshine that could light up every room just with his presence. He touched so many people in just 4 short years. He was always happy and wise beyond his years. He moved through each stage of growing up with grace and was amazing at self-regulating and adapting. From a very young age, he loved doing puzzles and memorizing books so he could read them to Maeve and his parents. He enjoyed reading books and had many special story times with his parents and grandparents over the years that will be treasured forever. He was a curious and intelligent boy and had an incredible memory, he would remind us of things that happened long after we had forgotten about them. He was constantly taking in all the information around him and reflecting on it before saying something wise beyond his years.

He was an amazing big brother to Maeve, whether it was entertaining her in the back of the car, while eating, playing in their sandbox, or visiting her class everyday at daycare when she had started just to make sure she was okay.

He was so thoughtful and sweet with all his friends and was always happy to play with them and do what they wanted. Quinn took joy in the simple things in life and just wanted to be with his family at all times, even if it was running errands, he was happy just to be with you.

Quinn loved music, singing and dancing and had a strong love for all holidays, especially Christmas and Halloween. He cherished going to the family cottages in Muskoka and Chautauqua, where he thoroughly enjoyed all the boat rides, tractor rides, ice cream and donut runs. He also loved travelling to Florida and making special memories boating on the intracoastal and at the Peanut Island beach. His favourite thing to do on the weekend was eating cheese pizza, going for a walk and watching paw patrol. This past summer Quinn took a real interest in watching the Calgary Stampede on TV and was lucky enough to go to a real Rodeo with his Daddy near the Chautauqua cottage and see the "bucking broncos" with his own eyes. He loved going golfing, to TFC games and Leaf games. On Saturday nights he just wanted to make a bowl of popcorn and sit with his Daddy to watch the Leafs. Quinns family and friends are going to miss him terribly.

Special thank you to Oakville Trafalgar Hospital and McMaster Children's Hospital who took the best care of Quinn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the McMaster Children's Hospital Foundation with a note to direct donations to McMaster Children's Hospital PICU specifically.
