Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Phyllis Visschedyk (nee Bott) on Tuesday, March 8, 2017 at Simcoe Hospice in Barrie. Born June 1, 1947, in Ormstown, Quebec, Phyllis was much loved and cherished by her beloved husband, John, of 21 years.
She was a proud and dedicated mother (and mother-in-law) of Scott (Cynthia), Patricia (T.J.), Richard (Nicole), caring and loving grandmother of Kristen, Rachel, Ryan, Nathan, Jessica, Kayla, Katrina, Brianna, Bryce, Evan, Corey, Kimberly and great grandchild, Neaveh. She is survived by her sisters Dorothy (George), Myrna (Bill), Shirley and brother, Garry(Nancy) and predeceased by her parents Ruby and Willis Bott.
Phyllis was a natural born leader who was very generous with her time and talents. She was District Commissioner of the Scouts in Brampton for 3 years, a Cub Scout Leader for over 20 years, Catholic Women's League President for 3 years, Cursillo Weekend Coordinator, and successfully initiated, organized and coordinated many events and projects within her Parish and greater community. Throughout her work life, Phyllis was a dedicated Financial Analyst and Creditor.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the nurses and doctors at the Cancer Palliative Care Centre(3rd Floor) at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, ON and the nurses, doctors and volunteers at Simcoe Hospice in Barrie ON for their care and compassion in helping Phyllis through her final days.

A funeral Mass to celebrate Phyllis' life will be held at St Dominic Parish on Tuesday, March 14 at 11:00am at 2415 Rebecca St, Oakville, ON L6L 2B1. Visitation will be at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West (one block east of Kerr 905-844-2600), Oakville on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm. A reception will follow the Mass at St Dominic Parish Centre.
