May 23, 1927 ~ February 8, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Bernadette Roy, neè Grammell who died peacefully on Tuesday February 8, 2022 in her 95th year. Phyllis, beloved wife of the late Albert Roy, loving mother to Wendy, Denise and husband Tom, Stephen and wife Nikki. Devoted grandmother to Bryan, Mitchell, Kevin, Derek, Paige, Garett and Gregory and all her great grandchildren.
Phyllis was born and raised in Oakville. Her family resided above the Grammell's Men's Wear clothing store where her father William Grammell owned and ran the tailoring shop on Lakeshore Rd. with loving wife and mother Mamie along with sisters Patricia (late), Barbara, and Elizabeth. She graduated from OTHS and Business College, then worked with W.S. Davis Agency, before settling down in West Oakville and devoting her life to her family.
Phyllis' zest for life was helping people. Some of her contributions included being a member of the Catholic Woman's League for over 60 years and was recognized for providing over 30 years of service with Meals On Wheels. She loved to 5 pin bowl, often winning trophies. In her spare time she loved to watch the Maple Leaf games and attended her grandchildren's sporting events whenever possible.
Phyllis was a kind soul, and will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she met. A special thanks to all the staff at Post Inn Village who made her last few years very special and yes, she will be missed.
