IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peter Curtin
Jackson
June 20, 1942 – May 6, 2023
Peter Curtin Jackson, age 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 6 th , 2023 in Oakville, Ontario. He was born on June 20 th , 1942 in Victoria, British Columbia, to Leslie and Barbara (Curtin) Jackson, and was the eldest of 3 children.
Peter spent his early years in Victoria, where he excelled in team sports, and as a Cadet developed a love of the sea. Life brought him to Ottawa where he attended Ridgemont High School (serving as first Head Boy), and studied Business Administration & Management at the Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology (E.O.I.T. - now Algonquin College). From there, a career with the Royal Bank of Canada took Peter to Montreal, Quebec where he met the love of his life, Nancy-June. Together they lovingly raised a family, and 1995 moved to Oakville, Ontario.
Peter's strong spirit, character, and belief in the call of service was apparent in both his personal and professional lives. As a long-time executive at both the Royal Bank of Canada and the Bank of Montreal, Peter was key in developing and implementing Human Resources strategies. It was in this field that Peter served as an executive with the American Compensation Association, becoming their first Canadian President. In his personal life, Peter was always counted upon to lend his organizational skills and leadership, whether as Commodore of the Oakville Yacht Squadron, or behind a campaign as a long-time supporter of the Liberal Party.
In retirement, Peter was always found amongst friends, on or around the water, whether in Oakville, or their favorite Caribbean winter hideaways of St. Lucia, St. Maarten, or Trinidad.
Peter is survived by Nancy-June, wife of 51 years; sons Simon-Peter (Angela) and Matthew (Sarah); grandchildren Tessa, Florence, Oliver and Isabella; sisters Patricia Jackson and Robin (Ross) Bentley, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 12th, 2023 at noon at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 47 Reynolds Street, Oakville. The family will greet friends at church on Friday from 11:30 am until the time of service.
The Jackson family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital for their attentiveness and loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Peter's name to Oakville Trafalgar Hospital.
