Peter Franklin Hancock

August 21, 1938 --- October 1st, 2025

Peter is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Gloria, his son Greg, his daughter Joanne, Pa to Ryan, Luke and Dylan, brother Bart (Jacky) and sister Trish (Ian).

Peter was born in 1938 in Toronto and spent most of his first 30 years there, attending Blythwood Public School and Lawrence Park Collegiate. In the fall of 1958 he went to Western in London where he graduated with a Business degree and met 8 of his friends with whom he remained   close throughout  his life. In 1961 he joined Deloitte's and proceeded to get his Chartered Accountant's degree. In 1962 he met Gloria whom he married a year later in Niagara Falls. They lived in Toronto until 1967 when they moved to Oakville where they would spend the rest of their lives. He joined Diversey Chemicals in 1967, and then switched to Rubbermaid in 1970 where he advanced to the position of Vice President of Finance and remained for 25 years until he retired in 1995.

For many years Peter was an active member of Walton United Church and volunteered at Square One Older Adult Centre and the United Ways of both Peel and Oakville.  Peter was an avid gardener (really digger), while Gloria planned and planted their beautiful garden. He loved to travel and with his wife Gloria travelled across most of Canada, as well through many countries of Western Europe and to Australia and New Zealand as a retirement present. After retirement he took up badminton, hiking on the Bruce Trail and then later walking. Peter also enjoyed playing bridge for many years. In his later years Peter became an avid reader averaging a book every five days, mostly mysteries, histories and politics.

A service of memories will be held at Walton United Church 2489 Lakeshore Road West Oakville, Ontario L6L 1H9 on Saturday October 11th, 2025 at 11am with reception to follow. If desire, remembrances may be made to a charity of your choice.
