Obituary

It is with sadness that we inform of the passing of our Dad, Peter Carel Maria Duyvelshoff, on March 28, 2021. Peter was born on Jan 28, 1928, in Halfweg, The Netherlands. He trained as a carpenter following the war. He married our mother, Anna Oudejans, on Aug 7 ^th , 1954, and 3 days later they started a 9-day boat journey that took them to Canada. Settling first in Quebec City, they had their first 2 children, Margaret, and Robert. They next moved to Oakville, ON, where Frank, and Annette were born. Initially, Peter worked as a carpenter, but later worked at Holderbank (Holcim) as a civil draftsman and model-maker. Peter was always a capable handyman; there was nothing he could not make or repair with a few nails and a " little bit of lijm" (Dutch word for glue). He proudly passed these skills on to his children. Predeceased by, Anna (1930-2011), they were married for 57 years.

Peter will be missed by his family (Margaret, Robert (Jane), Frank (Carol), Annette (Ken)), his grandchildren (Bryan, Jennifer, Christopher, Greg, Christina, Daniel, Brianna, Geoffrey, Kyra), great grandchildren (Brody, Joey, Lilliana, Charlotte) and many friends.

Be at peace now, Dad, you have earned the rest.

Out of respect for Covid restrictions, we will forego pre-funeral visitations. We will, however, be celebrating Dad's life at a Mass at 11:00 am, April 8th, 2021 at St. James Church, 231 Morden Rd, Oakville ON L6K 2S2. Registration to attend the mass is required by clicking the link at the top of this page .

Dad will be interred, next to Mom, in Burlington Memorial Gardens following the mass. In lieu of sending flowers, please donate to www.Chalice.ca , one of Peter's favourite charities.
