"To most people the sky is the limit. To those who love aviation, the sky is home."
-Jerry Crawford
Peter George Dmytriw, after a long battle with cancer, passed away at the age of 88 with his family by his side at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
Peter is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy and his daughter, Amber. Nieces, Joan Paton (Reid), Karen Chamyk (Steve) and Nancy Mathews (Ky Shim). Predeceased by his mother, Anna Dmytriw, father, Paul Dmytriw, and sister, Olga Mathews. Peter was born in Toronto, November 22nd, 1935, and grew up in the Junction area.
Peter was a long-time, loyal friend to many who shared his love of skiing, socializing and chalet-lifestyle in Collingwood and his passion for aircraft and flying. He began his quest for a pilot licence at the young age of 16 and would eventually pursue a career in aviation beginning with owner-operator of a private rental aircraft company in the early 70's, then progressing to owner-officer of Air Niagara Express Inc, 44 Helicopter Inc, Businessjet Canada Inc. and Southern National Jet Inc. He was well respected in the industry as an honest, fair, hardworking businessman with a can-do attitude. His interest and love of flying never waned. He continued to fly privately as long as circumstances allowed.
He will be forever in our hearts.
In keeping with Peter's wishes, a private family service will be held. A celebration of Peter's life will be announced at a later date.
For those who wish, memorial contributions to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum , Canadian Cancer Society , or charity of your choice are welcomed.
