IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Penny
Yakimik
November 29, 1942 – December 10, 2021
Penny Jane Hope Yakimik (nee Mulock) passed away peacefully on December 10 at the age of 79.
Beloved wife of Nestor Yakimik for 55 years to and loving mother to Nicholas and Kathryn and wonderful mother-in-law to Barbara and Peter and big sister to William (Bill) R. Mulock.
Penny was a flight attendant at Air Canada for many years and that is where she met Nestor on a lay-over in Winnipeg. Later she and her brother owned and operated Tasty Chip Steak Products Limited together and made the best peameal back bacon in the country (in our opinion). Penny was also a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 114, and a volunteer with the Altruist's of Oakville and the Canadian Cancer Society.
Penny was also a loving and kind fur-gramdma to Flour, Daisy, Nugget, Mocha and Benny.
Penny loved watching NASCAR, Formula 1, IndyCar, the Young and the Restless, and Curling. The family knew not to call her during those times as she was quick to get you off the phone so she could go back to the TV.
Penny was cheering from heaven on December 12 and would be overjoyed that the Winnipeg Blue Bombers won back-to-back Grey Cups.
The family would like to thank the amazing team on the Palliative Care unit 3 South at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for their compassionate and supportive care during Penny's stay there.
The family also expresses its thanks to Lisa Nagatakiya, Community Care Coordinator for her support.
As per Penny's wishes, there will be no visitation and a private service will be held on December 17.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Palliative Care unit at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, the Alzheimer's Society of Canada, or the charity of your choice.
