IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul Albert
Attwater
April 27, 1958 – February 10, 2023
On February 10, 2023, in the early morning, Paul Albert Attwater passed away peacefully at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. He was a long-time resident of Oakville, Ontario. Paul was the much-loved son of Bruce Thomas Attwater (1928–2006), a salesman, and his wife Mary Helen Attwater (née Cronin)(1926–1988).
Paul was born in Oakville on April 27, 1958. He had an idyllic childhood in Oakville and spent long days playing with his five siblings and their friends in the town's many green spaces, creeks and wide streets. He attended St. Joseph's elementary school, Georges Vanier middle school and T. A. Blakelock High School. Paul had a passion for electronics and studied electrical engineering at the University of Waterloo. The Attwater family attended church services and Paul continued his religious observance in adulthood. He had a long career at Watts Water Technologies (Canada) Inc. in Burlington, Ontario.
Paul was always very kind to his siblings. He cooked wonderful meals for us. He would send out funny Christmas cards each year and he would always enclose a generous gift. Paul was a quiet man and he enjoyed the peace of his lovely home and yard with its mature trees and abundant peonies. He enjoyed watching movies and cheered on the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team.
In October 2020, Paul suffered a debilitating stroke. This led to his being admitted to the hospital for an extended stay and then to a long-term care home. Over the years his health gradually improved and, remarkably, he was able to wheel himself down the corridors of his residence. Unfortunately, he lost his ability to converse with others. Sadly, in 2022, he was diagnosed with the inoperable cancer that led to his demise.
Throughout his long illness he had frequent visits from his sisters Wendy and Mary and we hope that those visits brought him some comfort in his isolation. During the coronavirus epidemic, David was able to FaceTime him and let him know he was in his thoughts.
Paul is survived by five brothers and sisters: Mary Morris, Wendy Attwater and Christopher Attwater of Oakville, David Attwater of Ottawa, Ontario, and Nancy Attwater of Miramichi, New Brunswick.
The family is grateful to all of the doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers who looked after Paul over the past two years. We recognize that a lot of Paul's care was seemingly thankless as it was carried out without others present. Thank you to those who sought to make his life better.
Paul will be cremated and a private funeral service will be planned for a date in the early spring.
Please take a moment to share a memory of Paul in the online guestbook.
