Obituary

Passed peacefully with family by his side, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital in his 88th year. Dearly beloved husband of Violet for 63 years. Loving father of Dave (Arlette), Steve (Barb) and Karen (Tom). Proud grandfather of Lisa (Sean), Christine, Shauna, Graeme and Colin. Adored great-grandfather of Liam and Allison. Dear son of the late Robert and Alice (nee Aldridge) and son-in-law of the late Henry and Isabella Vint. Norm was the youngest of his predeceased 8 siblings – Bob (Lorraine), Mag (Tom), Doris (Reg), George (Mary), Jim (Kay), Muriel (Louis), Al (Doris) and Gord (Kathie). Survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Norm's early years were spent at Weredale House for Boys as a resident then staff member, and at Camp Weredale as a camper then counselor. During his Camp days at Lac L'achigan, he began his 68 year romance with Vi. Their married life began in Montreal but in 1970 they moved the family to Oakville, Ontario, bringing with them cherished memories of their country place in Georgeville, Quebec. Norm became active in his new community through Civitan where he was an Honour Key member and held several offices including Club President and District Governor, during his 35 years of service. He will be remembered for his sense of humour, tremendous voice, kindness and dedication to his family and friends. Norm will be greatly missed and forever loved.
Many thanks to all who provided care to Norm especially Medical Day Care (2nd Floor) and the Nursing Staff (6th Floor) of OTMH.
Memorial service to be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016, 1 pm at Kopriva-Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville.
