IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nora Edna
Henderson
August 29, 1928 – February 9, 2023
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Nora Edna Henderson (nee Whitehead), August 29, 1928 ~ February 9, 2023.
Nora died peacefully in her 95 th year with her family at her side in Oakville. Nora will be sadly missed by her loving husband, James William Henderson. They were in their 70 th year of marriage.
Nora was born and grew up in the Beach, Toronto – one of eight children to parents Alice Margaret and Robert Arthur Whitehead. Predeceased by her siblings; Stanley, Robert, Mary, Bud, Eleanor and Rachael. Survived by her younger brother David (Linda) Whitehead.
Nora attended Malvern and graduated from Teacher's College and embarked on her teaching career prior to meeting Jim at the Balmy Beach Canoe Club. They were married in her home church, Beaches Presbyterian. Nora was a devoted mother to Marianne, Nancy (Lance) and David – first in Toronto, then Port Credit before eventually setting up home in Oakville from 1972 onwards. Nora's great loves were her family, friends, dog Cleo and music. She cherished her three grandchildren, Ryan (Meghan), Tyler (Kelly) and Samantha Ann, her four great-grandchildren, Harper, Charlotte, Leo and Miles and her many nieces and nephews. She spent a lifetime of wonderful summers in South River and Haliburton. She was a proud volunteer at the Royal Winter Fair and a member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Oakville.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 89 Dunn Street, Oakville, on Saturday April 29, 2023 at 11 am.
