It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nikola Filipovic, dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  He died peacefully on May 10, 2022 at Trillium Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario at the age of 92.

He is loved by so many and will be missed dearly.  He leaves behind his loving wife Branka, daughter Biserka (Nikola), son Branko (Radojka), sister Dragica (Mile), also nephews Robert (Michellle), and Rick (Ana) and their families.  He also leaves behind grandchildren Sandra, Mike, Dennis, Karolina, Kornelija, Karen and their families.  He is predeceased by his parents Josip and Manda and brothers Drago and Mate (Ana).

Nikola was born in the town of Ključ, Bosnia on November 25, 1929.  He was a hardworking and head strong man with a gentle heart and made friends wherever he went.  He always had a wise word for anyone he met and taught us all the value of hard work and saving for the future.  He had many talents but the biggest was as a mechanic.  He worked at John's Texaco for many years as a mechanic and was well known within the Kerr Street community!!  He took time to talk to the customers and put a smile on their faces.  When he retired he put all his focus on his family, even babysitting his great-grandchildren while he still could!  In these last years he suffered from dementia and slowly slipped away.  He will always be remembered by his family and friends for the amazing gifts of love and wisdom he gave us.  We are so blessed to have had so much time with him.

Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville. (one block East of Kerr Street) on Friday May 13, 2022 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.  Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Croatian Catholic Church, 2110 Trafalgar Road, Oakville on Saturday May 14, 2022 at 10:00 am.  Interment Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family would like any donations to be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oakville.
