Nedjeljko (Ned) Lakich, 94, of Oakville, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

Born on January 7, 1931, in Crno, Zadar (Zara), Croatia, to Ilya and Sofia Lakich, Ned immigrated to Canada at the age of 21, where he built a life of dedication and love for his family and community.

He married Sonya Krupka in 1965, and together they raised two children, Natalie and Christopher. Ned enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Supervising Accountant, retiring from Bata Shoes.

Ned cherished time spent with his family, especially his six grandchildren: Lilly, Avery, and Justin (children of Natalie and Dave Wilkinson), and Matthew, Julian, and Madelaine (children of Chris and Olga Geryluk). His warmth, kindness, and devotion will be remembered by all who knew him.

Ned is survived by his beloved wife, Sonya; daughter, Natalie (husband Dave Wilkinson); son, Chris (wife Olga Geryluk); and grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 13th, from 2:00–4:00 pm and 6:00–9:00 pm at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, Oakville. The funeral service will take place at 12:00pm (noon) on Tuesday, January 14th, at the chapel located in St. Volodymyr's Cultural Centre, 1280 Dundas St. W, Oakville, ON, with Father Radovan Kodic officiating. Burial will follow at St. Volodymyr's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, in appreciation for the excellent care provided to Ned.

Ned's family and friends will miss him dearly, but his legacy of love and care for those closest to him will live on in their hearts.
