Moira Anne Lamont Burgess, a long-time resident of Toronto, died at the age of 74, Saturday the 4th of February 2017 at St. Michael's Hospital. Born 31 March 1942 in Edinburgh, Scotland. The third child of John and Norah Burgess. Moira started her working career as a secretary for a legal office in central Edinburgh. During this time Moira enjoyed Ice Skating at Murrayfield and going to various dance halls in Edinburgh. Moira used to regale her younger twin brothers at home about the antics of the "Teddy Boys" who dressed in Edwardian long jackets, tight trousers, thick crepe sole shoes with slicked back hair! Moira moved to Canada as a young woman in 1962, (following her older sister, Sheila to Oakville) eventually settling in Toronto. Moira was an artist, a musician, an animal lover and a sailor. Moira was her nephews and nieces favourite babysitter, always allowing us to play outside long after the street lights came on. Moira is lovingly remembered by her family. She was predeceased by her husband J.Karl McManaman on 26 September 1993, her brother J.Gordon Burgess (Jean) on 22 December 2011 and her sister Sheila Kennedy (Matt) on 10 September 2016. Moira is sadly missed by her brothers David (Joyce) and Stuart (Judith); her nieces and nephews; Michael, Gordon (Yvette), Grant (Joyce), Alison, Stuart (Jennifer), John, Alan, Susan (Gordon), Hugo, Richard (Elaine) and Zoe (Dan), and her many great nieces and nephews. Moira is fondly remembered by her extended Queen's City Yacht Club family and dear friend Eva Jekabson.
