Obituary

Milt affectionately known as “Mickey” growing up, died peacefully on April 7, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on February 18, 1942, to Stella Dabrowski and Roy Cowan, Milt was a man defined by his infectious laughter, sharp mind, and devotion to his family,

Milt is now reunited with his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Catherine (Tina), who passed away 25 years ago. Their reunion marks the final chapter of a beautiful love story that began in their teenage years.

A true extrovert with a gift for connection, Milt turned his knack for solving complex logistical puzzles into a distinguished 27-year career with Wilson Truck Lines. Even after retiring, his drive to serve others never waned; he dedicated much of his time and energy to the Knights of Columbus, where his social spirit and leadership were felt by many.

In his younger years, Milt’s "office" on summer weekends was the golf course. A skilled player with a single-digit handicap, he was a fixture at the first tee-off time every Saturday and Sunday morning, chasing the perfect round before the rest of the world was awake. Whenever possible, he’d be back later with his beloved Tina for another round.

Above all, Mickey was the cornerstone of his family. He is survived by his children: Catherine (Ron) Francoeur, Lisa (Brett) Hill, and Jeffery (Alicia) Cowan. He was the proud grandfather of Ashley (Luke), Brandon (Maria), Liam, Logan and Daniel and the doting great-grandfather of Laela and Theo.

Milt’s legacy of love and laughter will be deeply missed but forever cherished by those who knew him. He taught us that life’s problems are just logistics waiting to be solved, and that no morning is wasted if it’s spent on the greens.

Visitation will be held on Sunday April 12, 2026 at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block East of Kerr Street) from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm.  Funeral Mass will be held on Monday April 13, 2026 at Mary Mother of God Parish, 2745 North Ridge Road, Oakville at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at SpringCreek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Diabetes Canada or the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
