It is with much sadness that we share the loss of Dr. Michael Ronald Murray. Michael, 54, died peacefully at home on December 18th, 2025. Michael was the devoted husband of Mhairi de Alwis for 21 years and a deeply loving father to Ao Murray (18), Alba (15), and Olivier (11), who were the great pride of his life. He was a cherished brother to Chantal Murray; a beloved son of Pauline Murray (née Comstock) and the late Ronald Murray; much loved uncle to Jeremy and Julia Allen; and son-in-law to Assajee and Jennifer de Alwis.

A dedicated physician and a lifelong student of healing, Michael completed his residency at McGill University before embarking on a career defined by service. While he called Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Windsor, and Oakville home, his commitment to medicine knew no boundaries; he traveled extensively to serve patients in Oshawa, Mississauga, and Brantford. Whether in an emergency room, a family clinic, or an addiction wellness center, Michael blended sharp intellect with a profound sense of humanity.

A voracious reader with a wide-ranging and curious mind, Michael possessed a deep love of learning and ideas. He was drawn to music, art, research, poetry, and teaching, and took particular pleasure in sharing knowledge through conversation and mentorship. He was an enthusiastic sports fan, especially of the Lakers and soccer, and found creative joy in the kitchen, where he delighted in experimenting with recipes and mastering intricate techniques.

Michael will be remembered for his intellect, generosity of spirit, and enduring curiosity about the world. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Michael's birthday, January 17, 2026 at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. W., Oakville from 2-4pm.
