IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Meg
Hardman
November 12, 1944 – July 29, 2023
Meg (Margaret) Ann Lyon Hardman, aged 78, passed away on Saturday July 29th, after a short battle with Leukemia. Meg is survived by her husband of 53 years, Colin, her son David, her daughter Cathy (Damon O'Keefe) and her 2 grandsons, Emmett and Reuben.
Born in England and called Oakville her home for over 40 years. Meg had a gentle nature with an adventurous spirit. She loved classical music, reading, languages, animals and travel. Highlights from her travels include: Japan, Italy, Germany, Malta, the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Scotland, Australia and New Zealand, and of course France, where she met Colin and and worked with her best friend, Barbara.
Meg had a passion for the arts, attending many shows and exhibitions in Toronto and elsewhere. She was particularly fond of the Canadian Opera Company and multi-day trips to the Stratford and Shaw Festivals with family or close friends.
She was a proofreader by trade and enjoyed working so much she only retired at age 75. Meg held various jobs throughout her life, from cooking for a canoeing outfitters in the South of France, to working at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto, to proofreading at The Oakville Beaver, and finally working with her dear friend Hazel, organising interpreters for conferences. It was the perfect job for her to use her organisational skills and her love of languages and travel.
Food was ever present, with favourite meals including smoked salmon with capers and cream cheese on Montreal bagels, meats and soft cheeses, and we all loved her homemade apple crumble, tiramisu and other tasty desserts. You would often find Meg enjoying a hot cup of tea in the afternoon, followed by the occasional glass of sherry before dinner. As much as we enjoyed her cooking, Meg was always pleased to dine in restaurants and enjoyed any meal that someone else prepared.
Her sudden passing comes as a shock to all her friends and family.
Rest in peace. You are so loved and are already greatly missed.
A service will take place on Wednesday, August 9th at 2pm, at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home in Oakville.
