Passed away peacefully on June 26, 2022, at Joseph Brant Hospital surrounded by her immediate family.

Survived by her three daughters, four grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Mavis was born in Buccoo Tobago, moving to Trinidad in her late teens where she met her husband Roderick Clifford Aqui and went on to have a career in the public service. They married in 1951 and had three daughters whom she truly loved and cherished, Valda (Courtney), Sharon (Stewart), and Marcia (Rhett). She moved to Canada after retiring, where she helped raise her grandchildren; David, Nicholas, Jason, and Karyn and established new friendships. This year Mavis was thrilled to welcome her first great granddaughter, Stevie. Mavis had a full and long life and was always grateful for her many blessings. Her passion and enthusiasm to keep learning and sharing her knowledge continued to the end. She was a woman full of grace, and was loyal and committed to friends and family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 2nd, 2022 at 1pm in the Chapel of Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block East of Kerr Street). As requested by Mavis, please wear your happy colours.
