Peacefully passed away on July 5, 2011, in her 68th year, surrounded by her family. Dearly loved wife of John for 44 years, and loving mother of Craig (Michelle) and Blair (Teresa). Dear sister of Robert (Chris) Mills and Janet (Daryl) Conly. Daughter of Isabel Kaiser (Mills) and the late Arthur Mills of Galt (Cambridge). A devoted and loving Grandmother to Jackson, Parker, Miles and Morgan. Much loved by many nieces, nephews and her extended family and friends. Born and raised in Galt, Ontario, Maureen graduated from the Hamilton Civic Hospitals School of Nursing in 1967 and had for forty years been an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Oakville where she supported many community service projects. She volunteered annually with such activities as the Daffodil Sales for the Canadian Cancer Society, served as the Treasurer of the Group Committee of Hopedale Scouts, helping less fortunate families through her sorority involvement and also supporting the ALS walkathon. She has also been a long-time member at Hopedale Presbyterian Church. The family expresses their thanks for the care of all her physicians and care-givers and especially the care provided by the ICU medical team at St. Joseph's Hospital in Toronto in her final days. A special thank you to her ICU nurse Brian. Visitation will be held on Friday July 8, 2011 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home (64 Lakeshore Road West) in Oakville. A celebration of Maureen's life will be held 11am on Saturday July 9, 2011 at Hopedale Presbyterian Church, 156 Third Line in Oakville with a reception to follow at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Hopedale Presbyterian Church Organ Fund, or to a charity of your choice in memory of Maureen.
