Loving husband of Patricia (nee Gould), beloved father of George Richard and Matthew Theodore (Christina), cherished Opa of Aiden and Rowan. He will be affectionately remembered by his sister Irmgard (Ingrid) of Ottawa, his brother Herbert (Eva) of Germany, and by so many kin and friends who he treasured so. He was born in Bonn, Germany, proud of his German Heritage and proud to show one proof that he was a Canadian. "Matt" enjoyed an impressive career in Construction doing restoration on Historic Buildings for the N.C.C. in Ottawa; Clerk of Works for "Labyrinth" N.F.B. Expo '67; Clerk of Works for Plaza Cote des Neige in Montreal; and then 20 plus years with C.I.B.C. He was active in his Rate Payers Association; past treasurer in B.H.Y.C.; raced (sailing) for many years on "Freckles" at R.C.Y.C; Matt was an avid reader, loved music and going to the Opera and was so very proud to be a Schlaraffe. Visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600), Oakville on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Dominic Roman Catholic Church, 2415 Rebecca Street, Oakville on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Jude's Cemetery.
