IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Ambeau
(Née Dunnigan)
December 9, 1936 – May 30, 2025
Mary peacefully passed away at Oakville Hospital, Oakville, Ontario at the age of 88. Born in Toronto, she was the youngest of five siblings: Audrey (deceased), Theresa (deceased), Bill (deceased), and Jim Dunnigan.
Mary spent her childhood years in Toronto before moving to Oakville as a teenager with her family. She later attended St. Michaels Hospital Nursing Program, where she made numerous life-long friends and graduated in 1958. Afterward, she returned to Oakville and met a handsome young man with whom she would fall in love with and spend 61 years full of laughter and joy. Together they had three children: Marc (deceased), Carolyn (Frank) Masi, and Rob. Mary gave all of her heart to her entire family and friends. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, and the many friends that she held dear. Mary was a proud Nana to three grandchildren: Marc and Bernadette Ambeau and Deona Masi.
She worked part-time at the Oakville Ford Motor Company, Mack Truck, and was especially passionate about her work at O.T.M. Hospital, where she touched the lives of numerous patients with her warm and compassionate care. Mary had a zest for life, she loved to talk on the phone, party, curl, play bridge, read. But more than anything, she cherished spending time with her family.
Mary will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Her warmth, unmistakable voice and infectious laugh touched the hearts of so many people throughout her life, and she will be remembered by all who knew her for her thoughtful and loving soul. The Ambeau family would like to thank the staff at Oakville Hospital for their professional and compassionate care.
