IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Elizabeth
"Ibby" Large
September 19, 1931 – September 19, 2017
Ibby Large (nee Bradshaw) passed away peacefully in her home in Oakville, Ont., after a brave fight against cancer and later a stroke. Ibby entered this world on September 19, 1931 and she left us on the same date, September 19, 2017 having lived eighty-six wonderful years. Beloved wife of the late Stewart Large. Devoted and much loved mother of Beth, Ross and Clare, and mother in law of Bill McCracken and Elaine Large (nee Webster). Loving grandmother (Nannie) of Shannon de Roos (Robert) and Jamie McCracken, and Thomas, Daniel and Maggie Large. Proud great grandmother of Kailyn and Hayden de Roos. Dear sister of Dick Bradshaw and his wife, Val. Dearest friend and kindred spirit of Gordon Hinch.
Born in 1931 in Quebec, educated at King's Hall, Compton, and earned an Honours Degree in English at McGill University. Ibby was a devoted and loyal mother to all her children, especially to her dear Clare to whom she dedicated her time and efforts tirelessly for her entire life, and to the cause of others with special needs. Ibby was a passionate lover of the arts; literature, art, drama, and music infused her life and brought her much joy. She was an avid traveler who touched all corners of the world. Ibby was a loyal friend to many, a fact made clear by the support and visits she received in her final months. Her life was full, her personality large, and her life entirely one of class.
A Service of Thanksgiving celebrating the life of Ibby to be held at St. Jude's Church, 160 William Street, in Oakville 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. The family gratefully acknowledges the outstanding medical care that Ibby received from Acclaim Health, Dr. Southey, Dr. Kazem, Dr. McPhaden, and all the staff and volunteers at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital Cancer Care Clinic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central West Specialized Developmental Services http://cwsds.ca/en/home/ specifically the Star Lane group home, or Community Living Oakville http://www.oakcl.org/ both of which continue to serve Ibby's darling Clare.
