IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvene
Moore

Marvene Moore
August 14, 1934 - August 9, 2025.
With deep sadness, but also with great love and compassion in our hearts, the children of Marvene Moore announce her peaceful passing at almost ninety-one-years-of-age in Oakville, Ontario. Mom's final wish was to have her five children at her side and in true fashion, she got what she wanted. In the short while since her passing, we realize this command performance was Mom's farewell gift to us, for which we will be forever grateful. She was one hell of a mother and will be missed.
Mom was born in Toronto on August 14, 1934 to George and Florence Hastings, immigrants to Canada from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, U.K. She soon became the shiny apple in her father's eyes, a carbon copy of her strong and stoic mother, and the big sister to her late fun-loving brother George. She was raised in a comfy corner of Swansea, now known as Bloor West Village. By all accounts, Mom enjoyed a magical childhood filled with innocent adventures and the forging of life-long friendships. Special mention goes to June Walton of Toronto and the late Douglas sisters, Deborah Armitage of Florida and Carol Wharin of Oakville.
Mom attended Swansea Public School before heading to Western Tech to earn a diploma in secretarial skills. Although she was a curious and bright woman who would have loved the opportunity to attend university, her father insisted she have a trade on which to fall back on should it ever be needed. Her first job was at London Life alongside her dear friend, June, but her real work became her family.
Mom met the love of her life, Donald Moore, on a blind date that had been set up in part by June. They were married in 1957 shortly after Dad graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and then settled in Oakville. Mom loved her family and was that ever-present stability in the home. She was intuitive and gentle in nature, although firm in raising her five children. She challenged each of us to "do the right thing," only offering advice, wisdom and insight when she saw it was warranted. We were empowered to make our own decisions and take responsibility for them, and we thank her for that, another gift.
Outside of raising her family and supporting Dad in his practice, Oakville was special to Mom. She loved her home and the downtown core, golfed (badly), tried to play bridge, volunteered at the schools, the Oakville Historical Society and the Women's Chiropractic Auxiliary, spent winters in Sanibel and summers in Muskoka, carted children and grandchildren here, there, and everywhere, knew how to roast a mean roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, appreciated music, philosophy and the arts, and even enjoyed the odd wine or whiskey, but never ever to the extreme. She was a fabulous Grandma to her sixteen grandchildren and loving great-Grandma to thirteen great-grandchildren and will be forever remembered by them for her warm heart, her love, and the funny voicemails that made them smile. Her final years were spent at Churchill Place where she embraced all the programs on offer and appreciated the new friendships she made. Mom led a full life, rich with family and friends.
Marvene is survived by her husband, Don, and her five children Brett (Kathy), Julie, Shauna Clinning (Chris), Jim (Carol), and Nicole Allen (Jeff); her grandchildren Andrew, Torie, Brendan, Callie, Hanna, J.P, Connor, Alexandra, David, Kelly, Elyse, Matthew, Jared, Aiden, Charlie and Sydney; her great-grandchildren Henry, Finn, Callum, Leo, Jack, Summer, Liam, Gus, Arthur, Leo, Holly, Noori, and Luna; as well as her niece, Heather Fiorelli, her treasured first cousin Jean and her husband Mac Urquhart of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, U.K, their children Grant and David, and by nephew Dean Grant and niece Lori Grant. The family also wishes to thank all the wonderful staff at Churchill Place for taking such good care of her. We love you, Mom.
