Passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6 th , 2015 in her 93 rd year after a long decline due to Alzheimer's. Beloved mother to Charles Ivey (Katrine), James Ivey and the late Karna Ivey. Cherished grandmother to Austin Ivey, Taylor Ivey and Gillian Ivey. Beloved daughter to the late Jacob and Sophia Karna both of Finnish decent. Dear sister to the late Eleanor Anderson (Ken Anderson) and her late brother Edward Karna. Loving aunt to the late Connie McNally (nee Anderson) survived by her husband Paul McNally, his daughter Kristin of the Boston area and Karen Karna Roy of Marquette, Michigan. Marty was born on August 11 th , 1922 near Marquette. She was an English teacher before becoming an airline stewardess with Pan American Airlines where she met her late husband C. Robert (Bob) Ivey. Marty dedicated much of her life as caregiver for her daughter Karna who courageously battled Cystic Fibrosis until succumbing to the disease in her 30 th year. Marty's big laugh and joyful personality attracted many of her children's friends who would sit for hours in their kitchen in London, Ontario captivated by the many colourful conversations. Marty loved to walk her dog daily in Gibbons Park where many dogs would come running from far corners of the park to greet her. She was proud of her U.S. citizenship and had a vivacious flare for life. Her collection of New York style hats and custom shoes were a reflection of her outspoken, loving nature. She will be fondly remembered by many, including members of the American Women's Club – London. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (905-844-2600). There will be a funeral service for the immediate family only. A celebration of Marty's life will take place in London, Ontario on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 2-5 p.m. at the London Hunt and Country Club.
