On Thursday July 23, 2020 at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Marinko is predeceased by his mother Milka, father Dusan, brother Milan and sister Marica. He leaves behind Milica, his wife of 42 years and their daughters Svetlana (Lana) and Marinka (Seka), his sister in Serbia Mila and in his sister in Croatia Mirjana, as well as son-in-law Mike and his beloved grandchildren Aleksandra and Nikola. He also leaves behind a large extended family (Lakic) in Canada, including uncle, aunt, and many cousins. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and uncle to his nieces and nephew and dedicated to his family and Church. He shared a large group of friends and acquaintances within the Serbian Orthodox Community, and will be greatly missed by all. Marinko was born in Poljica, Croatia and in 1961 emigrated to Canada where he was employed at Ford Motor Co in Oakville for a number of years. In 1978 he decided to try his hand at business ownership and ran a B&B with his wife in Bournemouth, UK until moving back to his hometown in 1988. In 1991 he moved back to Canada. Visitation at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville from 2-4 and 6-9 pm Sunday. Funeral Mass 11am Monday at Sts. Peter and Paul Serbian Church, 1039 Dundas Street. Oakville. Interment St. Volodymyr Cemetery. Due to Covid restrictions please arrange visitation/funeral time appointments by contacting family (Milica 905-469-1434) .
