After a courageous battle with lymphoma, Marilynne (Orr) Grant passed away at home on Sunday, July 11th, 2010. Marilynne loved her family above everything else. She will be greatly missed by her husband Ian Grant and her children Fraser (Christine) and Heather (Marc). Marilynne was an adored Grandma to Madeline, Charlie, Ayla, Matéas and Aenea. Following graduation from Havergal College in 1961, Marilynne attended the Wellesley School of Nursing, graduating in 1964. She then completed her Diploma in Public Health Nursing in 1965. Marilynne worked in Public Health for many years before becoming the school nurse at St. Mildred's Lightbourn School where she worked from 1987 until this year. A long time resident of Oakville, Marilynne was actively involved in the life of Knox Presbyterian Church and was a dedicated member of the Maycourt Club of Oakville for many years, serving as president in 2004-2005. Marilynne was a vibrant person with a huge heart; she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 14th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) Oakville. A service celebrating the life of Marilynne will be held on Thursday, July 15th at 3:30 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 89 Dunn Street, Oakville.
