Marie Joyce McMurray McLean Macdonald
Joyce passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Tansley Woods Care Complex in Burlington, Ontario on April 10, 2021.
Joyce was born on August 18, 1925 in Toronto the only child of Fredrick McMurray and Ella Anderson McMurray. She grew up in Toronto and looked forward to spending frequent weekends visiting her Anderson grandparents in their home on Balsam Avenue in Oakville.
After her marriage to William McLean she went to work for Lever Brothers Limited in east Toronto in a clerical position and rose at Levers. While working there Joyce made many friends and maintained contact with these women over the years to the present day.
Prior to her retirement from Levers she left her apartment in the city and moved to Oakville to join her elderly mother who lived in a home on Upper Middle Road. In the fall of 1981 they moved to a newer home on Carol Road.
In 1991 Joyce married John Macdonald and they spent 8 happy years together travelling to their Condo in Florida and taking many cruises. Joyce loved her cruises!
A few years after John passed away Joyce was introduced to Jack Tripp of Cambridge and together they set about travelling, enjoying time with the Tripp Family and sharing time together in both Oakville and Cambridge.
After Jack passed away and Joyce began to struggle to manage at home she moved into Churchill Place Retirement Home in Oakville where she stayed for just over one year. In April 2019 she moved to the Memory Care floor in the Retirement Home section of Tansley Woods in Burlington. There Joyce received excellent care over the past 2 years.
After a very full life of 95.5 years Joyce can certainly rest in peace.
Joyce will be missed by her cousins Dr. Wilf Anderson (Oakville), Barry Caven (Toronto), Valerie Caven Cook (Burlington) and Judy Anderson Gahl (Ohio, USA) Joyce will also be missed by her long-time friend Marion Walsom (Oakville), members of the Tripp and Macdonald families as well as her former Lever Brothers colleagues.
Due to the current COVID Pandemic no specific plan has been made at this time for a memorial service.
Joyce had requested cremation and will be laid to rest with her parents in Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery in Oakville.
