Peacefully, after a brief illness on Sunday, September 7, 2008 in her own room with family at her side, at the age of 78. Loving wife and best friend of Ron. Dear mother of Gillian (Jim), Malcolm (Natalie), Julia (Michael). Grandmother (Nan, Nannie, Gran) of Murray (Krista), Laura, Amanda, Sophie and Laurent. Step-mother of Helen and Colin (Rosemarie), step-grandmother to Kaya and Savannah. Also remembered by Norman and Bev, friends and relatives in England, many friends from dancing, music events, former students and all those who performed with her over her musical career. Marie was an accomplished musician and choral teacher. She was a pianist from a young age who won competitions, taught a love of music to her own children and many students, privately and in schools, notably Appleby College and St. Mildred's Lightbourn School. Her musical talents will be missed. Marie had a love of life and travel and was always ready to go somewhere. Special thanks to all the staff at Northridge Long Term Care Home for their love, care and attention over the past year. Memorial visitation will be held at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. West, Oakville, (one block east of Kerr, 905-844-2600) 7-9 p.m. on Friday. A Celebration of Life Service will be will be held in the Kopriva Chapel on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions to a scholarship fund to be established in Marie's name at a later date would be appreciated by the family.
