Maria Joana Moniz De Lima Pacheco
June 24, 1936 – November 5, 2025
With profound sadness and deep love, the family of Maria Joana Moniz De Lima Pacheco announces her peaceful passing on November 5, 2025, in Hamilton, Ontario, at the age of 89.
Born in Portugal, Maria was a woman of quiet strength and unwavering devotion. At 47, she courageously left her homeland and immigrated to Canada, where she built a beautiful life in Oakville with her beloved husband, who has been waiting for her in heaven for 33 years. Together, they raised 14 children:
Liberio (Maureen), Maria Olinda (John), Daniel (Odilia), Regina (John), Rosa (Armando), Guiomar (Victor), Carmelia (Jose), Ana Paula (Miguel), Emanuel (Kasia), Paul (Christina), Pedro (Julie), Roberto (Milena), Luis (Monika), and Carla (Agostinho).
She is also reunited in eternal peace with five of her children who predeceased her — forever loved, remembered, and held in their mother's arms once more.
Her legacy continues through her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren — each a reflection of her love, strength, and the values she instilled. Their lives and memories stand as a living tribute to the extraordinary woman whose kindness and devotion shaped generations.
Maria was the heart and soul of her family. Her door was always open, and a warm pot of food was always on the stove — never empty, always ready. She was happiest surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She loved to cook, sing, and fill her home with laughter and love. Her presence brought comfort, warmth, and belonging to everyone around her.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures — singing as she cooked, attending Bingo at Delta where she made lasting friendships, and playing cards around the kitchen table with her family. Those evenings, filled with smiles and connection, are memories her family will cherish forever.
Maria leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, generosity, and togetherness. Though her hands are now at rest, her love will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever ours.
