Obituary

Maria Luisa Guzman de Bolaños age 91, passed away February 15, 2025. She was born June 21, 1933 in Tonacatepeque, El Salvador to Vicente Guzman Erroa and Cristina Lemuz de Guzman. Predeceased by great grandchild Angel. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years Napoleon; sons, Melvin (Frances), Walter (Berna), Jorge (Kerry), Ruddy (Teresita) and Edwin (Christian); grandchildren: Bernice (Ryan), Kelly, Melvin, Alex, Alba, Emily, Maria-Jose, Yossie, Jorge, Jaden, Rudy and Raquel; great grand children, Nevaeh, Alegra, Eve, Phoenix and Zoe. As a youth she was a runner and played softball, but her passion was teaching. After meeting on April 20, 1959, she and Napoleon Bolaños Solorzano got married on December 20, 1959. They raised 5 boys together, moving to Toronto in 1984. Maria continued her teaching career and retired from the Toronto Dufferin School Board. She continued to teach Spanish to her grandchildren and to anyone who had the privilege of sitting at her table. Maria was loved by so many being called, Lichita, Niña Licita, Doña Alicia, Bis-abuela, Abuelita, and Mama. Maria was an avid Toronto Raptors and Blue Jays fan. She forever was a fan and cheerleader of her sons and her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maria had a strong faith, trusting God would watch over her family. She was happiest when everyone was together. Her laugh, sense of humour and loving care will be terribly missed by us all. The Bolaños family is thankful to all for your loving support.
