Passed away peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 in her 86th year. Marnie, dear daughter of the late Gordon and Enid Duncan. Beloved and gracious wife of William P. Chipman. Loving mother of 3 children, Gary and his wife Barbara, Scott and his wife Kathy, all of Oakville, and Dorothy of Winnipeg and stepchildren Ken and his wife, Marion, of St. Catharines and Jill and her husband, Don, of Edmonton. She also leaves five grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.
Marnie was born in Hamilton on October 12, 1923 and later lived in Toronto and moved to Ottawa in adolescence. She first met her dear husband, Bill, through his first wife Bea, a high school friend. Marnie and Bill renewed their acquaintance upon Bea's passing and at the intrepid ages of 65 and 70 eloped to Palm Springs. They celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary this year.
Marnie was a wonderful person, the epitome of a lady who cared for those she held dear with great affection and consideration. Her family and many friends will all miss her. A celebration of Marnie's life will be held on Tuesday, December 9th, 2008, at St. Jude's Church, Oakville at 2:00 o'clock. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marnie's name may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society.
