Obituary

Lynne Munro, 95, passed away peacefully, at Sunrise of Burlington Residence in Burlington Ontario on September 25th, 2023.

She was born on May 8th, 1928 to Thomas Bernard Humphries and Hannah Mann (nee Harvard) in London, England. She spent the war in England where she met George Wachmann, her first husband, and they immigrated to Canada in 1951.

Lynne raised a family with George, first in Montreal, and later in Oakville, Ontario. She married John Munro in 1976 and they moved to a home they constructed together at 46 Second Street in 1980. Lynne and John raced and cruised in their beloved sail boat "Sumac", where they met many kindred Tilley-hatted spirits, and enjoyed a rich life of community.

Lynne was an avid sailor, gardener, antique collector, fantastic cook, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was active in developing the Oakville Yacht Squadron into an active young sailor training and racing club on Lake Ontario. She also enjoyed her Tuesday nights with the Oakville Scottish Country Dance Group.

Lynne was predeceased by her  husband John Munro, son Ian (Kathryn), brother Roy Mann, her first husband George Wachmann and is survived by her ; children Nicky (Rick deceased) and Tony (Tracy); grandchildren, Sara (Tom), Kristine (Adam) Jennifer (Stephen), James (Katie), David, Michael, and Alena; great-grandchildren Bennett, Zoe, Everleigh, Henry, Leah, Sullivan, and Paige; sister-in-law Brenda (Kotik deceased), nephews Marc (Shawna), Eric (Paula deceased), and Paul (Gloria) and grandnephews Vaalik, Anton, Chris and Karlie.

A private interment will be held for Lynne at St Jude's Cemetery for local family. A Zoom gathering for family who cannot attend will be hosted by her son, Tony, at a later date.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care Lynne received at the Pearl & Pine Retirement Residences and Sunrise of Burlington Residence (Crizel), whose incredible support helped so much these past years.

With you for mast and sail and flag, and anchor never known to drag, death's narrow but oppressive sea looks not un-navigable to me.
