Obituary

Passed away in hospital on January 21st, 2012 surrounded by loved ones. The WWII Spitfire pilot of the famous Polish 303 squadron with the RAF was awarded 3 medals of valour. He completed his studies in Glasgow, Scotland where he met his future wife, Bianka. Ludwik worked for many years as chief engineer for St. Lawrence Cement Company and VP of Holtec Consulting. After retiring, he worked as a volunteer for CESO. Deeply loved by his wife of 60 years, Bianka, daughters, Renata, and Tamara, and son-in-law, Wolf, his beloved and admiring grandchildren, David, Mark, and Nikki, his nephew Zbyszek (Basia), grandnephews, Thomas and Mathew, and sister Maryla. He will be remembered for his courage and optimism. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. Many thanks to Dr. Strang, Yolanda and the compassionate nurses on 4 East at OTMH and to Dr. Collett. If desired, donations can be made to Doctors Without Borders or the Stephen Lewis Foundation. A celebration of Ludek's life will be held at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 12 noon.
