IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Lorraine June Fraser (nee Stevens)
September 5,1922 - August 8, 2024
With profound sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Lorraine Fraser (née Stevens) at OTMH, just shy of her 102nd birthday. Born in Toronto on Laing Street in 1922, Lorraine was the youngest of seven siblings: Freddy, Doris, Jimmy, Norm, Alex, and Herb, all of whom have predeceased her.
Orphaned at the tender age of four following her mother's death during childbirth, Lorraine was lovingly raised by her older sister Doris, who was newly married and only 19 years old. While working at General Electric, Lorraine met the love of her life, Gordon Fraser. They shared 65 wonderful years until his passing in 2008. Lorraine and Gord moved to Oakville in 1951, where they purchased a lot and built their home on Balsam Drive, where she lived until her passing.
Lorraine was a proud mother to three children: Linda (Ian Somerville), Steven (Karen), and John (Barb, deceased 2023). She was also a devoted "Gran" to seven grandchildren: Dana (Tony Smith), Kara (Scott Walsworth), Julie (Paul Murphy), Matthew (Jen), Josh (Alexis), Susan (Derek Allen), and Alison (Jamie Cobban). Lorraine's joy extended to her fifteen great-grandchildren: Adelaide & Makenna; Maclain, Rocky, Gordie & Symington; Felix & Téa; Cynthia & Ellie-Grace; Rue & Lonnie; Paige; Owen & Drew.
Throughout her life, Lorraine was deeply involved in her community, even into her nineties. She was a valued member of the original "Eight East Oakville Bridge Club," volunteered at the OTMH snack bar, and canvassed and drove for the Canadian Cancer Society for over 25 years. Lorraine was also a past member of the Oakville Curling Club and served as a dedicated co-pilot and meal runner with her friend Peg Mason at Meals-on-Wheels for 14 years. She contributed her time at the IODE on Kerr Street until recently and was a loyal member of St. Jude's Anglican Church for 72 years. A testament to her adventurous spirit and unwavering zest for life, Lorraine achieved a bucket list milestone by participating in the CN Tower EdgeWalk at the age of 94. Toronto's CTV Evening News celebrated her remarkable feat for breaking age-related records.
Lorraine was a positive force of nature who loved people. Her glass was always half full; anyone fortunate enough to know her was blessed by her infectious positivity. She had a unique ability to engage with anyone and make them feel comfortable. Her spirit lives on through the family and friends of all ages who she touched.Lorraine lived a life full of grace, joy, and inspiration. She taught us invaluable lessons about what truly matters: loyalty, family, friendship, love, spirituality, and a positive attitude. We are deeply proud of her and grateful for the example she set.
She now deserves her peaceful rest.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family interment will be scheduled at St. Jude's Rose Garden.
