With sad hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother, Lois Marilyn Sloane ("Marilyn") on November 5, 2023, at Oakville, Ontario, age 93.
For 44 years, Marilyn shared and enjoyed a wonderful life with her late husband, Richard Douglas Sloane ("Doug"). Loving mother of David (Tammy) of Kitchener, Brian (Bronwyn) of Toronto, and Sandy of Hamilton. She will be dearly missed by Mary Beth Sloane, and Jeff Collett.
Marilyn also shared and enjoyed a wonderful life with her late second husband, Ronald Cedric Read ("Ron") for five (5) years.
Beloved Nana to Michael, Steven and Tyler Sloane, Ryan Kelly (Katrina) and Chris Kelly (Vicky), and Andrew and Lauren Collett.
Great grandmother to Elliot Augury Sloane and Ezra Linden Sloane.
Daughter of the late Bill and Gertrude Bainbridge (Hamilton) and stepdaughter of the late Sam Alldis (Hamilton).
Marilyn was predeceased by her 5 brothers and sisters: Diane Luton (Jim), Bill Bainbridge (Alice); Garry Bainbridge (Pat); Judy Burgess (Bill); and John Bainbridge (Yvonne). Survived by many nieces and nephews.
Born in Hamilton, Marilyn attended Central Collegiate and graduated from Hamilton General Hospital School of Nursing in 1952.
The funeral service will be held at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, Ontario L6K 1E1, on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with a one (1) hour visitation immediately prior to the service. Reception to follow.
A private family-only service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Milton, Ontario, after the reception. Flowers gratefully declined. If you wish, a donation can be made in Marilyn's memory, to Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation, P.O. Box 739, LCD1, Hamilton, Ontario, L8N 3M8.
