It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beautiful and wonderful wife (Elizabeth) Liz Balog (nee de Faria) who died peacefully in her sleep on Friday June 19 th , 2020.
Liz was born in Toronto on October 13 th , 1957 and grew up in the Kensington Market area of Toronto. Her family moved to the Port Credit area of Mississauga in 1968. She attended McMaster University in 1976 and graduated in 1979 with a degree in English Literature. It was at McMaster that she met her future husband Gabe and they remained together for almost 44 years.
Liz was a kind, energetic and spirited person who touched the lives of her many friends. She spent most of her career working in supply chain for various companies including Sears, Revlon, General Mills, Maple Leaf Foods, Purina and Moen before retiring in 2018. Liz and Gabe loved to travel and after retirement, they moved to their home in Bonita Springs Florida with their dog Rosie.
Liz is survived by her husband Gabe and their two wonderful and talented sons, Andrew and Nathan (Erica), sister Mary and brother Duke. She is predeceased by her father Jose de Faria and mother Suzanna (Moniz).
Because of the Covid-19 restrictions, we are unable to have a visitation and memorial service at this time. Once that restriction is lifted, we will have a memorial that will take place at the Kopriva-Taylor Funeral Home in Oakville. We will let everyone know the date and time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the ALS Society of Canada.
