Obituary

It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Linda Ann Nicholson, after a quick battle with cancer.

Linda was predeceased by her parents, Murray and Velma Nicholson, brother-in-law John Gaik, and friends Nari Lala and Pat Rath.

She leaves behind her daughter Leigh Underwood, her sister Sandy Gaik (Steve), nieces Andrea (Wojtek) and Tara (Noah), and great niece and nephew Hannah and Simon. Also, her good friends: Brani & Tom, Barb, Bev & Shiela, Jane & Mary, and her friends from both exercise class and art class.

Linda worked as an RNA at the Montreal Children's Hospital while studying to be a teacher. She started her teaching career in Montreal and worked in special education. She later moved to Ontario in 1982 and taught with the Peel Board of Education. During this time, she completed her Master of Education and became a principal.

Linda loved to sing, and we all enjoyed her wonderful arias as a soprano in so many performances with Tom Oliver as her singing teacher, and throughout her years in the choir at Walton United Church. She also performed in the musical variety shows, Voices in the Night, for charity. Linda also loved travelling, cooking, reading, card making, and art. In her retirement she was able to take up painting again.

A private interment will be held at a future date.

In remembrance of Linda Nicholson's life, charitable donations may be made to: Hamilton Music Festival to "the best soprano of the festival", or the Walton United Church music committee.
