IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lillian Joan
Roblin
September 2, 1929 – January 12, 2025
Lillian Roblin, a longtime resident of Oakville, passed away peacefully at the Post Inn Village nursing home on January 12, 2025, at the age of 95. She was born on September 2, 1929 in London, Ontario to Leonard and Jessie Lemke, and grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario. At age 20, Lillian graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in social science from McMaster University and began her career working for the YWCA in Sarnia in 1950. This is where she met the love of her life, Don Roblin; they married in 1952 and had 4 children. After moving to IOCO, British Columbia in 1955 and spending 8 years in western Canada, they returned to Ontario. Lillian joined the Halton Children's Aid Society as a social worker in the field of adoption, a role that motivated her to go back to school and complete her Master of Social Work in 1971. Following graduation, she started working at the Hospital for Sick Children to support families in trauma, and she continued to work as a medical social worker until her retirement in 1991, at the age of 70.
Lillian was an intelligent, inquisitive, vibrant and energetic person who believed that adaptability was life's key skill. She was a lifelong learner and volunteer, and was immensely interested in people and their stories. Lillian will be remembered as warm, friendly, generous and caring to all who knew her, always a loyal friend and strong supporter of her loved ones. She travelled extensively with her husband Don and created lasting memories together with friends and her growing family, particularly on Lake of Bays and down in St. Pete Beach, Florida.
Lillian is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Don Roblin, and her sister, Betty Walsh. She is survived by her 4 children, Bruce (Lynne), Louise (Martin) Campbell, Blair (Lynn) and Darcy (Deb); 13 grandchildren Jennifer (Grant), Chris (Evelyn), Melissa (Jeremy), Leah (Craig), Brock, Robyn (Derek), Amelia (Ryan), Cam (Stuti), Heather (Jon), Erin (Guillermo), Samantha (Jerome), Brett and Nicole; and 6 great-grandchildren, Ayden, Daisy, Ollie, Harlowe, Beiwen and Quentin. All were touched deeply by her love.
Many thanks to the wonderful staff at the Post Inn Village for their excellent care of Lillian over the last few years of her life.
Donations in Lillian's memory may be made to Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children . A celebration of her life will be held at a later date this Spring.
