A truly remarkable, talented and loving woman left our world Canada Day, July 1, 2026. Lilian Maria Berdula MacDonald was 89. Born in Hamilton on January 24, 1937, she is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gregory, and children Gerald (Jessica), Andrea (John) and Stephanie (Michael), and grandchildren Phoebe, Jaspa, Shaun, Ellen, Holly and Lake. Lilian was a graduate of Loretto Academy, Hamilton, and attended Brescia College at the University of Western Ontario. In her professional life she was a social worker in Ontario and Alberta. An accomplished singer, Lilian performed in amateur productions in Hamilton and Oakville, as well as thrilling church goers at St. Andrew’s in Oakville and St. Mary’s in Big Pond, Nova Scotia. Lilian was a magnificent cook, known for her cabbage rolls, pierogies, and especially her butter tarts, which she generously shared with all her friends at the family cottage on Cape Breton Island. She was an active member of St. Andrew's Church, previously serving as President of the Catholic Women’s League, as well as an active part of the social groups at her condo. Lilian was particularly known for her generosity and her great dinner parties. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 8, 4 PM to 7 PM at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore West, Oakville. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 9, 10 AM at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 47 Reynolds Street, Oakville, with a reception to follow.
