It is with profound sadness, but also deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, that the family of Leonard Joseph Parent announces his peaceful passing on May 30, 2026, at the age of 84. Len was the beloved husband of Jean for more than 62 wonderful years — a partnership rooted in love, loyalty, faith, humour, and unwavering devotion to one another. Len was a loving father to Darren (Jacqueline) and Matthew (Mary), and proud Pepe to his cherished grandson, Logan Parent. He is survived by his siblings Shirley Douglas, Lawrence “Bucky” Parent, and Robert “Bobby” Parent. Len was predeceased by his mother and father, Lucille & Jed Parent, and his brother Leon Parent. A lifelong member of the Catholic community, Len faithfully attended and volunteered at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Oakville alongside his family for many years. His faith was not simply something he believed, but something he quietly lived through kindness, humility, service, and trust in God. Len had a lifelong passion for the transportation industry and genuinely loved the people, relationships, and challenges that came with it. He worked alongside both of his sons over the years and took tremendous pride in the hardworking men they became. Outside of work, Len found joy in life’s simple blessings — road trips with Jean, evenings spent playing bridge, early morning fishing trips, cheering on his sons through years of rep hockey, and bringing laughter into every room through his humour and storytelling. Even through illness and hardship, Len continued to face life with remarkable dignity, courage, humour, and faith. Those who knew him will remember not only his strength, but the warmth, empathy, and steadiness he brought to the lives around him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Kopriva-Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road, Oakville. A Funeral Mass celebrating Len’s life will be held at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 47 Reynolds Street, Oakville, Ontario, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., followed by a reception at the Parish Centre. Cremation has taken place. Len will be laid to rest at St. Jude’s Cemetery in Oakville, Ontario, at a later date.
