Surrounded by his family, Larry passed away peacefully in his 62nd year after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He is dearly loved by Donna, his wife of 40 years, and his children Laura, Amy, and Brandon. He is predeceased by his father, John, his mother Joy, and his brother Allen. Survived by his brother Murray Scott and sister Jill Forrester-Fretz.
An alumni of Wilfrid Laurier University (BAH Econ) and Queen's University, MBA class of 1980, Larry had a successful career in banking in both Toronto and London, England where he worked for a number of international and Canadian banks, lastly as Head of Scotia Capital Markets Europe.
On returning to Oakville in 2001, Larry took an early retirement before subsequently becoming involved in politics; President of Federal Conservative EDA and the Oakville PC Party EDA before running as the PC candidate for Oakville in the last two elections.
Larry was an active leader within the Oakville community. He was a member of the investments committee of the Oakville Community Foundation, the United Way of Oakville leadership team, and served on the Board of Governors of Wilfrid Laurier University.
A celebration of life will be taking place Saturday, June 10th, at the Oakville Golf Club, 1154 Sixth Line, from 1 – 3 p.m.
