A guiding light has been taken from us and replaced by a bright star for all to see as another angel takes her place in heaven. Laurie passed away early in the morning on Saturday March 10th after a brief but courageous battle with Leukemia having just celebrated her 50th birthday on February 23rd. Laurie was a woman admired by all as a teacher, mentor, trainer, nutritionist, friend, daughter, sister, wife and mother who would light up a room with her smile and her sunny disposition just by walking into it and leave it brighter on her departure by all the lives that she had touched in some meaningful way. Laurie had a vitality that was unparalleled and was instrumental in changing many lives through her kindness, generosity and love; she simply made us all better people setting a wonderful example of how to live your life. She was loved deeply and unconditionally by husband of 23 years Bruce and was intensely proud of two sons, Alexander (20) a second year Kinesiology student at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo and Daniel (16) a grade 11 student at St Thomas Aquinas High School in Oakville and of the best dog in the world, Polly.
Laurie is pre-deceased by best friend and sister Sue and leaves behind loving parents John and Helen Jasenec, wonderfully supportive and loving brother John and his wife Julie. Beloved daughter in-law to Maria and Jack Burrows of Hamilton and loved sister in-law of Karen and partner David. Laurie will be missed by cousins in the Krupa, Szabo and Fundarek families and countless friends and neighbours.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all the Doctor's and Nurses in the Princess Margaret Hospital Leukemia Ward and the Mount Sinai Hospital ICU for their loving care of Laurie while she was in their charge.
