Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Laura Elizabeth Jory (nee Cotie), of Milton, on September 3, 2025, at the age of 44 following a difficult journey with cancer.

Laura was born on August 7, 1981 in Kitchener. Laura attended Emmanuel Bible College, Laurier University (B.Arts), and Western University (B.Ed.). Laura taught History and English at the high school level for North Toronto Christian School. She then dedicated many years at home raising her four beautiful children, before transitioning into pastoral work at The Meeting House. She was a pastor of children's ministry in Oakville and was later invited to join the teaching team.

Laura followed passionately after Jesus and desired to point others to Him in all that she did. She believed in community and walking alongside others in every aspect of life. She took time to encourage those around her with the things that she herself was learning from Jesus.  She exemplified kindness, gentleness, peace-making, humility, and love.

Laura was an avid reader, crafter, and she loved to dance and sing. She enjoyed time at her family cottage on Lake Huron; swimming, relaxing, and enjoying sunsets with her family. She volunteered weekly at RE:SOUL Youth Centre, spending time being a friend, playing games, and working to create a safe space for the youth.

Laura is survived by her loving husband, Nathan Jory; children, Amelia, Eloise, Charlie, and Henry; parents Bob and Debbie Cotie; siblings Jen (Dan) Desilest, Brian (Nicole) Cotie, and Luke (Abby) Cotie; as well an extended and loving family of nieces, nephews, in-laws, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Laura was predeceased by her mother Gail (Cooper) Cotie.

A memorial service for Laura will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 13th, at Halton-Peel BIC - 2700 Bristol Circle, Oakville with a reception to follow.  (Doors open at 1:30 pm)

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to RE:SOUL Youth Centre , Macha Mission Hospital (Zambia) via BIC Canada Global , and Ian Anderson House .
