Krzysztof Laszkiewicz will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend whose greatest joy in life was spending time with the people he loved.
Before building his life in Canada, Krzysztof served as a firefighter in Poland. Over the years he proved to be a man of many talents — working as a painter and carpenter before eventually spending more than twenty-five years as a truck driver, a profession he took great pride in.
Krzysztof and his wife, Aneta, shared a beautiful marriage of 34 years. He had a playful spirit, and teasing was truly one of his love languages, especially with the people he loved most. To this day, his daughter Angelika says she never truly knew how her father proposed, because he always told a comical version of the story. According to him, it began with his future wife giving him flirtatious looks across the pews at church, which eventually led to him proposing in a coffee shop. In his telling, when she excitedly said yes, her joyful shriek was so loud that every window in the café burst.
Some of Angelika’s most cherished memories with her father are from time spent on the road together. On PA days he would take her along on city trips, and during March break he would even ask his dispatcher for Florida routes so he could bring her to Disney World. Those long drives together became treasured adventures, and she always felt incredibly proud watching him do the work he loved.
Krzysztof loved cars and often spoke about his dream of one day owning an Acura SUV, which he fondly called his “SUVA.” He was also known as a master bargain hunter, happily spending days researching and comparing prices before making a decision.
He found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Weekend mornings often began with classic Polish disco polo music while he made breakfast. He loved stand-up comedy, dancing, chocolate ice cream sundaes with chocolate syrup and walnuts, and spending time with family.
He took great pride in his home and especially in his backyard, where his lawn was his prized possession. The grass had to be cut to exactly the right height — never too short and never too long — something anyone who knew him quickly learned.
Krzysztof and Aneta loved taking road trips together to small towns across Ontario, often stopping at farmers’ markets along the way. When they weren’t on a road trip, you could count on them taking their walk along Lakeshore in downtown Oakville — with Krzysztof always needing to stop for ice cream.
Family was always at the center of Krzysztof’s life. Even while living far from his homeland, he remained deeply connected to his family in Poland. He stayed in close contact with them, speaking almost daily with his brother Marek, and regularly calling his parents Tadeusz (RIP) and Genowefa.
In recent years, Krzysztof often became the voice of reason for his family. He encouraged Aneta and Angelika to live a gentle life, reminding them to spend time together and experience all the world has to offer. He often spoke about dreams of retiring in Thailand — though this was always a light-hearted debate with Aneta, who preferred Italy or Spain.
His passing was sudden, unexpected, and far too soon. Though his family’s hearts are still in shock, the memories he created — the laughter, the road trips, the music, and the love he shared — will remain with them forever.
Spoczywaj w pokoju, nasz kochany Krzysztof.
Dla wielu Krzysiu. Dla mnie zawsze Tatusiu.
Szerokiej drogi.
