It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kenneth MacKenzie. Ken (Rob) in his 76th year, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday October 14th, 2022 at his home in Oakville. Predeceased by his father Kenneth MacDonald (2006) and his sister Katherine (2021). Survived by; his children, Meredith and Alex; his grandson, Henri; his friend and ex-wife, Gail MacKenzie; his mother Bette; his sisters Andrea and Karen (Dan), and his nieces and nephews Liam, Meghan, Brendan, Emily and Hillary.
He was born in Toronto, Ontario, on May 31st, 1947 and spent his early childhood in Montreal, Québec. Later the family moved to Oakville, Ontario where he lived and worked for most of his life. He graduated from York University in 1971 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English. He later attended teacher's college and taught for many years at Oakville Trafalgar High School, where he enjoyed teaching Theatre Arts and English. He loved to read, garden, shop, listen to music and have coffee with his friends. He was very social and involved with CMHA and Oasis group functions. He enjoyed and took pride in planning events for CMHA, such as camping trips and Christmas parties. Throughout his life he advocated for those less fortunate than himself. He will forever be in our hearts and will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Visitation will take place October 23, 2022 1-2 pm at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd. W., Oakville with Memorial Service to follow 2 pm. In honour of Ken's memory, donations can be made to The Canadian National Institute for the Blind , Canadian Mental Health Association , Halton Healthcare , Kidney Foundation or Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind.
