Karen Louise Holmes, 70, passed away on March 26, 2026, in Oakville, ON. After a long battle with her health, she is finally at peace and will forever be a guardian angel for her dear friends, family and loving daughter, Tori Holmes Lane.

She was born on October 6, 1955, to Victor and Agnes Holmes in North Bay, Ontario. After graduating from The University of Western Ontario, Karen spent the first part of her career in management at Merill Lynch Canada and Dynatec Mining Limited in Toronto and then transitioned to her near 30 year career in real estate in Oakville, following in her beloved father’s footsteps. Throughout her career, Karen earned her place in the RE/MAX Hall of Fame; Sales team leader for #1 RE/MAX Team in Canada (2001); was part of one of the top 5 RE/MAX teams in the world (The Invidiata Team, 1997-2002) and Founder of VHM at RE/MAX Aboutowne Realty Corp., Brokerage (2002).

Karen lit up every room. Her charming personality, warmth and smart humor will be greatly missed but always cherished.

Over the years, Karen has committed to the community by supporting local charities including The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Kerr Street Mission, Lighthouse Foundation, Salvation Army and Halton Women’s Shelter. In lieu of flowers we ask for a donation to any of these various charities, in her memory.

A celebration of life will be hosted on Wednesday, April 8th 2026 at The Oakville Club (56 Water St.) between the hours of 11AM to 3PM. Speeches will commence around 12PM for approximately half an hour.

A private interment of ashes will be conducted by close family and friends at Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery.
