Obituary

On Friday, November 7, we said a sudden and all too soon goodbye to the sparkling centre of our family. Surrounded by her family, June Romano (nee Semenuk) passed away at the Queensway Mississauga Hospital, leaving behind the most beautiful legacy of her love for life.

June was born in Hamilton, Ontario to Nicholas and Anne Semenuk. Growing up with three adoring brothers, Terence, Nicholas, and Mark, she found sister-hood and a lifelong bond with her cousin, Jane Fischl. From a very young age, June had a passion for pets, plants, and people. Her beloved dogs were a constant by her side throughout her life, and flowers bloomed larger more vibrantly when tended to by June. She made friends quickly, with her bright, blue, twinkly eyes, her easy conversation, and her room-filling laughter.

June married Carmen Romano, the love of her life, on May 29, 1976. Together, they built a beautiful life in Oakville, Ontario, raising their two children, Nicole (Gabe), and Michael (Kelly). June was a proud and devoted mother, who revelled in sharing the accomplishments of her children. She was a cherished part of every facet of their lives, in the big moments, and the small. She could be counted on to bring comfort, to offer wisdom, and to encourage perseverance and resilience when it mattered most. She was an adoring grandmother to Max and Juliet and delighted in watching them grow, hearing their stories and cheering them on.

She was endlessly creative, making her home a place of beauty, and throughout the years, she shared her talent at craft fairs and with her home business as a decorator.

June spent over 35 years living on Golden Meadow Trail with a wide group of very dear friends. The would gather for tea and long chats in her lovely home, in her lush back garden, and recently, in the magical nook she built under the pine tree of her front yard. Neighbours would pause to admire her beautiful scenery as they walked along the sidewalk, and as more neighbours would stroll past, it quickly became a cluster of friends chatting, catching up, sharing stories. This was the magic that June could create - a beautiful, spontaneous moment of life and laughter, where you could sit long, talk much.

June, to all who have known you, you will be profoundly missed.
