She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children in 1944, and always considered herself to be a "Sick Kids" nurse. She loved babies and young children. Another of her loves in life was sharing home with family and friends, young and old. Many teenagers from the 1960s (now middle-agers), as one of them reflected, 'will never forget the kindnesses she bestowed on me......always making me feel welcomed and special'. Spring and summer were her favorite times because these were the best seasons to spend in the garden …there were always flowers in her life. The family is grateful to the staff at the Sunrise of Oakville for their loving care of mom since May 2007, to the staff at Halton Healthcare (OTMH) for their care during mom's recent hospitalizations, and also to the staff of Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home (Oakville). A memorial service will be held at Knox United Church, 92 Northumberland Street, Ayr, Ontario on Saturday May 7th at 11am. Following the service her ashes will be interred at the Ayr Cemetery beside those of her husband Ted.
